A Year Of Portofino At Longines Fake Watches

July 15, 2016 Off By admin

2011 marked a very special collaboration for IWC Schaffhausen- and what became the biggest launch in our history: Portofino – as shot by the great Peter Lindbergh.

Portofino is a famous Italian village, known for its picturesque colorful houses and fishing boats rocking softly on the sea. It has been a jet-set destination for decades, beloved by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, all the way to their modern-day counterparts Beyonce and Jay Z. That’s staying power.

Legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh brought the magic of this village to life with an amazingly popular portfolio, featuring several of IWC’s closest friends of the brand against the backdrop of a 50s/60s style Hollywood film set, and capturing the spirit of the dolce vita and the elegance of Portofino. Among these are Cate Blanchett, Kevin Spacey, Elle McPherson, Eric Dane, Ronan Keating, Zinedine Zidane, Jean Reno and more. The grainy resulting black and white images- Lindbergh’s signature – launched a worldwide debut for the watch family.

And then, we took it around the world.

An exhibition of photographs, specially curated by Peter Lindbergh, embarked on a world tour and were exhibited in major cities like LA, Cannes, Milan, Singapore, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur and more- in high profile, thematic events that attracted society luminaries like Alexander Skarsgård, Julian McMahon, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rachel Zoe, Sylvester Stallone, Dermot Mulroney, Rob Lowe, Daniel Henney and Zhou Xun.

Guests near and far were treated like stars for one night, escorted by models dressed in the style of the 50s down a long red carpet lined with flashes of more than a dozen cameras by paparazzi photographers. At the end of the red carpet, guests entered a scene recreated from Portofino. Inside spaces were transformed into a romantic and glamorous set depicting an outdoor Italian courtyard, with guests wined and dined, musicians providing entertainment, and an artist on hand to sketch portraits as a memento for a beautiful evening.

We have been honored to have brought you the wonder of Portofino this year, and hope you who did not get to see the exhibition in person will enjoy our celebration through the pictures. For a full look at the Lindbergh portfolio, contact your nearest IWC Schaffhausen retailer, or connect with us directly here or through IWC.com. We would love to hear what you think about our Portofino watches and portfolio, and look forward to offering you more magnificent moments in 2012- engineered for men.
